Maddy Creates’ Favorite Things: Summer Edition!

Hello friends! With summer coming to an end and fall in the air, it’s the perfect time to do some fall shopping! Yes, I promise it’s a thing. To give you some inspiration, check out my favorite things from the first half of 2017.

Simple Modern Summit Water Bottle

I can’t say enough about these beauties. I rememeber the first time I met one. I was at a theme park with my friends all day – it was 80 degrees outside, and we came out to the car at the end of the day and he grabbed a water bottle out of his car and offered me some. I declined, wrinkling my nose at the thought of drinking hot water. “No,” he said. “It still has ice in it.” But, get this. He’d filled the water bottle the day before. And there was still ice. These babies will keep cold things cold for 24+ hours, and hot things hot for up to 12 hours. The day I got mine in the mail was the day I recycled every other plastic bottle I had laying around the house! I’m pretty sure these are going to be on my favorite things list for years to come.
The best part is the price – Simple Modern sells tons of other size options on their websiteย for slightly higher prices, but I actually got a 2-pack on the 32oz. for less than $20 at Sam’s Club!

Viva Naturals Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser

I never really understood just how much our sense of smell relates to our mood until I started playing around with essential oils. I have favorite scent combinations depending on my mood; when I’m working, when I’m relaxing, when I work out, when I’m sick. I love this little guy from Viva Naturals. It’s easy to use and has all sort of pretty color settings. My favorite part of this one is that it also has an off option for the lights, which is essential for sleeping. With some water and a few drops of essential oil, I can completely change my day!

HP 14″ Chromebook

There are a lot of great laptops out there. When I started this blog, I was living at home and working part time so I needed something affordable. The battery on my 4 year old Toshiba wouldn’t hold a charge and there was no amount of disk clean up in the world that was going to get that thing running any faster. So I opted for a Chromebook, or a “light laptop.” In fact, I’m typing this on my 5 year old HP Chromebook right now, who still holds a charge for 6+ hours and runs as fast as it did straight out of the box. I just bought this pretty thing as a smaller, travel/backpack laptop for my upcoming trips. And you can’t beat $200 for a laptop, amiright?

AmazonBasics Classic Ruled Notebook / Sharpie Medium Point Pen

This is a 2-for-1, but is probably the most used on the favorite things list! My trusted notebook and pen, never far from my side. Although I’m a self-admitted office supply hoarder and do not discriminate, these two are my continuous go-to when shopping.

I’m also a huge fan of Moleskine notebooks and keep a few around the office. But for less than $10, you can’t beat this AmazonBasics option. It’s faux leather cover feels great, and the size is perfect for toting around.

Sharpie pens seem to be a favorite of pen snobs worldwide, which isn’t all that surprising. They last forever, write beautifully, and aren’t overly expensive. I’ll take a fine point if I have to, but the medium points are my favorite. I buy them by box when they’re available on Amazon, otherwise I typically sneak a pack or two home from Target once a month.

Heritage Store Rosewater and Glycerin

I’m not the most beauty concious girl. I don’t usually even wear makeup on a daily basis. But I do care a lot about the health of my skin, and this stuff encompasses both. This stuff is the nectar of the gods for your skin. I use this stuff every day, multiple times a day. It smells amazing, feels great, and works wonders for my skin!

Putting on makeup? A spritz of this first works as a great primer. Finished that great look? A spritz of this is amazing at setting makeup, too. Travelling? This will wake you up AND make you feel refreshed! It leaves you feeling dewey without being sticky, and has a light scent you’ll be smelling for hours. In fact, this was the first thing I ever set up for auto delivery through Amazon because I use it on a daily basis. You can find it here – you’ll thank me later!

Don’t forget, I’ve got some fall shopping to do! What are you favorite, must-have products of the year? Leave them in the comments, and make sure you let me know if you try anything on my favorite things list out!

    Hello ,

I saw your tweet about animals and thought I will check your website. I like it!

I love pets. I have two beautiful thai cats called Tammy(female) and Yommo(male). Yommo is 1 year older than Tommy. He acts like a bigger brother for her. ๐Ÿ™‚
I have even created an Instagram account for them ( ) and probably soon they will have more followers than me (kinda funny).

I have subscribed to your newsletter. ๐Ÿ™‚

Keep up the good work on your blog.
